RESEARCH:
 Blogging Task on Laura Mulvey

Laura Mulvey implies that music videos are aimed towards the 'male gaze', she argues that women are portreyed in a certain way to meet the 'male gaze' and this can be seen through the way they are dressed and clothes and the way they dance.

Based on this arguement i can expect to see women objectified in videos for a specific male audience, this can be shown through segmentation of camera shots to present certain aspects of the females body to please the selected audience.

This can be shown in many ways in a music video eg their style, hair, the situation and the narrative of the performace, this allows the audience to interpret the representation based on this.

Videos i believe illistrate my understanding of Laura Mulveys theory is:

This is the Hit me baby one more time - Britney spears

This is Whistle - Florida

Both these videos appeal strongly to this 'male gaze' take Britney Spear's video for example Women are half dressed in 'sexy' school uniforms throughout the video at different points to appeal to men who will watch it because of the women involved. Whistle by Florida features women and bikinis on a beach, which alsp apeals strongly to a male audience, These video also however appeal to a female audience as they hold aspects that appeal to them too.
